Outreach

A small group of people who use the service work alongside members of staff in delivering outreach sessions to ensure that information on our service reaches those who might need it. As well as arranging one off sessions with a variety of organisations or at events such as World Mental Health Day, we hold regular sessions at community hubs, the mental health inpatient unit (Hafan y Coed, Llandough Hospital) and also the Crisis Recovery Unit at the University Hospital of Wales.

The input of our outreach volunteers has been crucial to the success of these sessions; sharing lived experience of mental health issues and experience of using 4Winds services has been welcomed by potential users of our service. One of our regular volunteers was first in contact with 4Winds when we arranged an outreach session to the mental health unit where she was an inpatient. She said that meeting people face to face was far more encouraging than being signposted or reading a leaflet. Knowing how much accessing 4Winds had helped her recovery, she felt motivated to help others do the same.
If you would like us to arrange a session at your organisation or one of your events, please contact us.
